Ohioans for Secure and Fair Elections
The Freedom Bloc Endorses Ohioans for Secure and Fair Elections

CLEVELAND – Today Freedom BLOC endorsed a ballot initiative to modernize Ohio’s elections. The proposed constitutional amendment would expand voter registration, solidify early voting, and ensure timely ballots for military and overseas citizens. The Ohio Attorney General approved the petition summary on February 20. The official campaign launch will occur in March.

The following statement can be attributed to Freedom Bloc Executive Director, Raymond Greene Jr:

“Democracy works best when everyone is afforded the opportunity to participate. Currently we have a system where those most affected by draconian policies and laws are not readily afforded the right to participate in their civic duties. Formerly incarcerated people and those in jails all across Ohio are often completely left out of the electoral process. The Freedom BLOC endorses Ohioans for Secure and Fair elections because this ballot initiative will strengthen our state and create a more inclusive democracy.

The Ohio Chapter of the NAACP, Ohio’s A. Philip Randolph Institute, the Ohio Environmental Council, the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, the Ohio Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism, the Ohio Student Association, and Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates have also endorsed the campaign. Ohioans for Secure and Fair Elections continues to build a non-partisan, broadly representative buckeye coalition with Ohio veterans, faith-based groups, members of the disability rights community, advocacy and legal organizations.
